Haveringland Parish Church was awarded several grants totalling over £500k, including a significant one from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, to “Build the Future and Repair the Past”.
Work started in April 2024 to repair the church and make improvements to its accessibility, heating and lighting. Alongside this, work continued to connect with the wider community and to improve access to the building's heritage.
The project has brought toilet and kitchen facilities to the church along with pew heating and a new LED lighting scheme. We have a new heritage and welcome area as you enter the church and we also have excellent audiovisual facilities including the ability to live-stream.
A huge and diverse programme of events has taken place since the building has re-opened. We've sought to share the history and heritage of the building and the airfield as well as bringing people together for new social opportunities.
The Community Changemakers conference is the final part of the project and marks a point of completion for us.
